Mighty Falcons,

         Welcome to the 2nd week of the 5th six weeks. I have seen academic growth in each one of you, remember to always do your best in all you do and ask us for help when need be.

This week we will begin to:
  •  model and apply the formulas for area of rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids, and for volume of rectangular prisms;
  • develop a formula for the area of a regular polygon;
  • determine areas of irregular shapes and special quadrilaterals by decomposing and rearranging them into rectangles;
  • generate conversions for length and area;
  • solve problems involving the volume of rectangular prisms and area of triangles and quadrilaterals—where dimensions are positive rational numbers—by writing and solving equations.

Reminders:

Picture Day is on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Dress your best!

Mighty Falcons,

Welcome to the first week of the 5th six weeks!

       As we begin the new six weeks remember we must work extra hard because STAAR is around the corner and there are many goals to conquer.

        We will begin to work with angle relationships found among the interior angles of triangles. We will also investigate conditions required to form a triangle, including whether or not a given set of three side lengths that may determine a triangle or not. Finally we will investigate the relationship between the side lengths of a triangle and the related angle measures.

Mighty Falcons,

         Welcome to the sixth week of the fourth six weeks! This week we will begin working with multiplying and dividing integers with like and unlike signs. I do not want to rush these integer operations lessons for they are your foundation for many future math lessons. Once you apply the "why" and "how" they work, you will become fluent in the topic.  We will also begin working with triangle relationships on Wednesday; please make sure you come to school everyday so that you do not miss out.

Watch the video to get ahead of the lesson! Come prepared to answer questions in class regarding the video.

It is important that as a Falcon you always go the extra mile no matter what; when in doubt always ask your teachers for help that is what we are here for.

This week we will continue working with solving one-step equations and inequalities and will also begin exploring adding and subtracting integers by the middle of the week. I know these lessons are fairly new to you so ensure you are listening carefully. The current lessons contain a lot of pre-algebra concepts that will help you in your future math classes so make sure you are trying your very best. Remember we are learning as a team and it is okay to make mistakes, we are here to support each other at all times.

Mighty Falcons,

   Welcome to the 3rd week of the 4th six weeks! Last week was sure a chilly week hope this one is not too bad because I do not enjoy cold weather! :)

      Students, make sure you are turning in all your assignments for all of  your classes on time so that your grades do not suffer. Be responsible and ask your teachers for help when need be, remember we are always available for you; you guys are our #1 priority at school!

     This week we will begin solving one-step equations and inequalities. Make sure you are at school everyday so that you do not miss out, it is difficult to catch up at times. Also, go over all your vocabulary and notes on your interactive notebooks to polish your math concepts on a daily basis.

Watch the following videos to get ahead of our upcoming math lessons. DUE THURSDAY 1/25/18

Math Short Assignment: After viewing both videos, create a math problem scenario for each lesson. One for Solving One-Step Equations and another one for Solving One-Step Inequalities. You may use the examples from the videos to create your unique problems. Solve your own problem and display a number line for your inequality question. I don't want problems that are too basic be creative and use your higher-order thinking skills. Those of you that use fractions or decimals will earn extra points! :)
