Week of October 30-November 3, 2017

Mighty Falcons,


    Welcome to the 4th week of the 2nd six weeks. Progress report grades will be stored this week so ensure you have turned in all your assignment, remember you have up to 5 days to turn in late work. Responsibility and organization are key in middle school. Topic 5 test will be given Monday of this week, review your notes and agilemind online lessons. Test will consist of multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals. 

Check out the video to review for topic 5 test. Disregard notes about negative numbers,  our focus is positive rational numbers at this time. 




EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY: 

Create a full poster about multiplying and dividing fractions/decimals. Be extra neat and type out the information and strategies. Use pictures and make sure the poster clearly explains each of the mathematical aspects given. Use our math vocabulary and strategies. Due by Thursday, November 2, 2017.  Note: Extra credit opportunities are not given every week so take advantage when available.

Reminders:

Progress Report Card Pick Up on Thursday at Peter Piper from 4 to 6 pm.

If in doubt, always ask for help!

Come in during recess for math enrichment.

Be at school every day,  any day missed means lessons missed.

Week of October 16-20, 2017

Mighty Falcons,

        Welcome to the 2nd week of the 2nd six weeks. It is important to continue working hard and to always do your very best no matter what.


    This week we will locate and order fractions, decimals, and percents on a number line. We will also begin multiplying fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals. If time permits we will also begin working on dividing fractions.

Extra Credit Opportunity: Write down 15 facts you learned from the video and create 3 sample problems with work.

*First payment of $50 for 6th grade EOY field trip due by Monday, October 16, 2017.
*$5 for fall festival due by Friday

Week of October 9-13, 2017






Mighty Falcons,                                                                                                                      


   You survived your 1st six weeks of your middle school lives! The 2nd six weeks will consist of higher expectations, I expect nothing but your best efforts inside and outside our classroom! Remember we all learn as a family and we should not be afraid to make mistakes, mistakes are proof that we are learning. This week we will be comparing, locating, and ordering fractions, decimals, and percents on a number line. We will also represent percents with concrete models, ten by ten grids, and strip diagrams. Make sure you are extra attentive and ask for guidance if need be so that you do not fall behind.

Extra Credit: Create an interactive math game that involves the comparison of fractions, decimals, and percents. Ex: Gameboards, bingo, active games, etc. I prefer you to type out questions for neatness and organization. Include instructions. Be Creative and have fun! Due by Monday, October 16, 2017. NOTE: EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES WILL NOT BE OFFERED EVERY WEEK SO TAKE ADVANTAGE WHEN POSSIBLE. EXTRA POINTS NEVER HURT ANYONE!



Reminders:
*First payment for 6th grade end-of-year field trip due by Monday, October 16. First payment is $50. If you wish to pay the full amount of $100 please do so by Monday too.
*Bring in $5 by October 20 for AC2E MS FALL FESTIVAL which will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017.  Class representatives bring in a small cake.
*Try your best to be at school everyday! One day missed means class lessons missed.
* UIL Ready Writing practice for RMS students will be on Mondays from 3:50 to 4:50pm.
