Week of October 2-6, 2017

Mighty Falcons,


     Welcome to the last week of the first six weeks! I cannot believe how fast time is going and how amazing you guys are; I am still learning more about you but it is all about growing and learning together, we are a Falcon family no matter where we go.

     You will be taking your first six weeks test this week, your math test will be on Tuesday. Make sure you are prepared and have gone over first three lessons on Agilemind, including converting fractions, decimals, and percents, math notes, and any extra help available. Make sure you have no missing assignments and have turned everything in before the 5 day late policy deadline.

Reminders:
-Try your best to be at school everyday.
-Wear Blue on Monday in honor of Anti-Bullying.
-Topic 3 Agilemind due by Wednesday at 10:00pm.
-Students who sold 15 or more dozens of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will be going to Peter Piper Pizza on Friday! Have fun you deserve it!
-First payment of $50 for EOY field trip will be due by Monday, October 16, 2017.

     Welcome to the fifth week of the first six weeks. Six weeks tests will be given next week; make sure you stay on top of things and review all notes including first three topics shown in riogrande.agilemind.com and practice how to convert fractions, decimals and percents. 


Extra Credit: Write rules and examples of how to convert fractions, decimals, and percents on a half poster board. Be neat and creative! No messy work will be accepted. Due by Monday! Use your notes!

No school on Friday for students.

Week of September 18-22, 2017

Mighty Falcons,

Welcome to the 4th week of the 1st six weeks. Progress reports will be out this week so remember that the five-day late work policy is in full effect, be responsible so that your grades do not suffer.

This week we will begin working with rates and unit rates. Go over your notes and login into riogrande.agilemind.com to review lessons.

 Progress report pick-up will be on Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm at Peter Piper Pizza, try your best to be there! Krispy Kreme Doughnut orders will be due this Friday, try your best to sell as many as you possibly can.

Extra Credit Opportunity. On half a poster present a problem explaining the better buy of any item of your choice. Show your work and post pictures of items presented. Due by Friday! Use Vocabulary!

Week of September 11-15, 2017

Mighty Falcons,

          Welcome to the third week of the school year! I must admit I have been amazed by your hard work and dedication. Many of you are well-mannered and turn work in when it is due. There are very few of you that need to catch up and work on responsibility matters.

This week we will begin working with ratios and proportions. Make sure to be at school everyday so that you do not miss out!

MIT homeroom only needs 2 more parents to connect to Class Dojo so that we are at 100%. Sixth grade students please make sure your parents connect to Class Dojo in case they haven't done so yet.

Go over your Agilemind Online Lessons and complete work when assigned. Use your ID # for username and password and remember the website is riogrande.agilemind.com, Also, go over your Math Interactive notebooks regularly.

Watch the following video and write 12 important facts you have acquired for an extra credit opportunity, due by Friday!

FIRST PAYMENT OF $50 IS DUE ON OCTOBER 16, 2017.

Week of September 4-8, 2017

Dear Falcons,

     We survived the first week of school! I feel like all of you were ready for your first day of middle school and were not afraid to step up to the plate. There was no complaining or nagging done from any of you and I hope your positive attitudes only get better. I am glad to have met all 123 of you!!!! Remember middle school is all about responsibility and staying on top of your game so that you do not fall behind. Also, parents thank you for everything you do for your children. Please ensure that your son/daughter review their basic math concepts and go over their notes. Agilemind usernames and passwords will be issued next week and students may log in to review lessons and complete assigned questions. Also, thank you to those of you who donated items to be sent out to the Houston area! #TexasStrong #Sticktogether

This week we will be going over exponents, order of operations, multiples/factors, and prime factorization.
