Week of November 28 - December 2, 2016

Mighty Falcons,

Hope you guys had a blessed Thanksgiving break with friends and family. This week we will continue to multiply rational numbers and be introduced to dividing rational numbers.  We are one week away from our District Benchmark #1 so make sure you are alert so that you do not miss out. Remember the holidays are around the corner, so it only means you need to work harder so that you do not get distracted. 



Remember to continue to go over your INB notes and ask for help when in need. Continue to come during recess for extra help and let me know if you need to use the internet to complete your Agilemind online assignments.

Extra Credit:
Create a unique math game about multiplying fractions. Have a minimum of 20 questions typed and make sure it is extra neat. I will not accept any sloppy projects. 

The following pictures show our students multiplying fractions by using areas models. Students represent fractions by using a cake, frosting, and sprinkles. Students had a great time applying the math in their cakes.

Mighty Falcons,

Welcome to the week before our Thanksgiving Break! It feels like time is flying by and it's been great to see you grow and succeed emotionally and academically. I am very proud of you guys and I can't wait to see what's next! Remember we need to stay focused and not get too distracted with the approaching holidays. Make sure all your work has been turned in on time and always listen actively no matter what.

Students and teachers had a great week with our new Falcon principal Mr. Henry Cantu. We are anxious to continue to see our school prosper and shine as it always does!

This week we will begin multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. Remember to continue to go over your INB notes and ask help when in need. Continue to come during recess for extra help and remember to always stay alert in math class so that you do not stay behind.

Week of November 8-11, 2016

Mighty Falcons,    
Welcome to the 3rd Six Weeks! Half of the school year is almost over and I must admit I am very proud of your hard work and dedication. There are still a few of you that need to work a little harder but we know you will get there with a lot of  guidance and positive direction.

This week will be a short one since there are no classes on Monday. We will begin to explore percent proportions and move on to multiplying rational numbers. Make sure you are present and alert so that you don't miss out. Remember to continue going over your interactive notebooks, Agilemind packets and online slides. Come for help during recess if need be, do not wait until the last minute because you will begin to feel overwhelmed.

 Extra Credit Opportunity:
Create a fraction, decimal, and percent game. You can use a game board idea or any other game you enjoy. Type your questions out with a minimum of 20 questions in a game card format and make sure everything is in order and extra neat. Include Instructions.  BE CREATIVE! BE EXTRA CREATIVE!  I don't want any  messy projects and be sure to keep the game in a compact manner. I will not accept any sloppy work!

Week of October 31-November 4, 2016

Welcome to the last week of the 2nd Six Weeks!  

Make sure you are here Monday and Tuesday so you could be prepared for our 2nd Six Weeks Common Assessment on Wednesday. The test will consist of our previous lessons which include ratios, rates, unit rates, converting fractions, decimals, and percents, converting mixed numbers and improper fractions, etc.  Go over your AgileMind slides online and packets, math interactive notebooks, and other resources that we use. Remember you can also find more help online or ask me for extra help. 


Extra Credit:
Create a fraction, decimal, and percent game. You can use traditional games or a gameboard idea. Type your questions out with a minimum of 20 questions in a game card format and make sure everything is in order and extra neat. BE CREATIVE! BE EXTRA CREATIVE!  I don't want any  messy projects and be sure to keep the game in a compact manner.

Week of October 24-28, 2016

Falcons,


This week will be a very busy week with red-ribbon week, fall festival, bus safety, etc. We have to make sure we take advantage of our instructional  time together because next week is six weeks testing week and we do not want anyone falling behind. There was a lot of improvement in your six weeks mini-assessment but we need to make sure our six weeks test grades are even better than the mini! Together we can make it happen mighty Falcons! GooooOOOOooooooo  Falcons!!!


Make sure you are always on top of your game and make sure you are turning in all your missing assignments. Remember you only have up to 5 school days to turn in late work. Do not be afraid to ask questions if any. There is no such thing as a "dumb question." See me for help if you feel you need more help on a math lesson. 


This week we will continue to go over fractions, decimals, and percents. We will also explore more on the percent proportion and how to compare and order rational numbers.

Extra Credit: Create a neat half poster on percent proportion strategies. Be neat and clear. Remember to use information from the videos and notes. Add pictures, notes, and problems. Make sure it is nice and neat. I will not accept messy posters. Be Creative!

Week of October 17-21, 2016

Falcons,


Welcome to the 3rd week of the 2nd six weeks! This is a short six weeks so remember to stay alert and an top of things so that you do not feel overwhelmed towards the end.

We will be having a mini assessment on Wednesday  on the current topics which are ratios, rates/unit rates, and how to convert from fractions, decimals, and percents. See me during recess if you need extra help just ask me for a math pass.  Go over your Agile Mind panels and slides and use your Interactive notebook to go over your notes. Look over our math vocabulary word wall in our classroom for extra hints and tips that include visuals!

Remember you have  past and new AgileMind  online assignments. Make sure to complete them ASAP. Check your near deadlines so that you do not fall behind!

Reminder: You only have up to 5 days to turn in missing/late work. Majority of you are  doing great but I still have a few students who are being irresponsible and are slacking off! We cannot afford to  build these bad habits remember we either win together or lose together.. We need to have 100% passing and approximately 50% level III  passing rates  on all are tests and only you can make it possible.


Reminders:
-$5 due for fall festival.
-2nd Six weeks test is in approximately 2 weeks. Stay alert and be Prepared!
 - Wednesday, October 19 is Unity Day. Wear orange from head to toe to stand against bullying!
- Progress report night at Peter Piper Pizza on October 25, from 4-6pm! Be there! :)


Extra Credit: Create a half poster on rates and unit rates. Include Vocabulary and pictures.

I am very proud of all your hard work towards math class. You all have been putting great effort and it definitely shows through the work you do in class. 

This week we will be covering proportions and rates. Stay alert so that you do not miss out. 

You will be having a mini-assessment next week so make sure you are going over all your notes; let me know if you need any extra help or explanations. I am more than glad to help you out!
